On April 8, 2018, Derrel W. Sims suffered a severe brain-bleed stroke only a month after having had his hip replaced. The right side of his body was paralyzed. This is yet another difficulty he and his wife Doris are suffering after their home, property, and possessions were heavily damaged in Hurricane Harvey only 8 months ago. They are already being besieged by medical bills for his hip, and will soon have more bills due to this stroke.
