Jhãna Absorption eliminates all Physical Pain!

Image
The Blessed Buddha once pointed out: Where does all bodily pain cease, without even a trace remaining? Aloof from all sense-desire and secluded from any disadvantageous state, one enters and remains in the first jhāna absorption of directed thought and sustained thinking, joined with pleasure and joy, born of sole seclusion. It is right there, that all bodily pain ceases without a trace remaining... Comments: Therefore do beings reborn at the fine-material brahma level, never feel any physical pain, since they are continuously absorbed in this first jhāna ..! The amateur meditator can use this absence of pain as a diagnostic tool: If pain is still felt anywhere in the body, then the present meditative state cannot be first or any higher jhāna , but must be a case of calm ( samatha ), preparatory concentration ( parikamma-samādhi ) or near neighbourhood concentration ( upacāra-samā dhi ). From A Tea Party Activist and Recovering (Beck) Addict….

For clarification, I could have no doubt included in that list Fred Barnes and Charles Krauthammer (and probably the rest of the Beltway Boys), but to my knowledge, they haven’t viciously attacked those who rightly recognize the eligibility of the Commander in Chief to hold office as “not incidental” to our liberty. (To their discredit, they have marginalized the issue itself, however.) By way of further clarification, I could also have included in that list such names as Ed Schultz, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Bill “Million Dollar” Maher (one of the 99%?), Keith “Too-Extreme-Even-For MSNBC” (How is that possible?) Olbermann, and Jon Stewart (along with his 4 or 5 script writers), as each of the above obviously occupies the same vacuous position as those on my “A” List. In truth, of course, I have only scratched the surface of the “Good Morning America” and Ladies of “The View” hosts – past and present – and virtually every other Hollywood and Manhattan/D.C. media star and st

"Silent Sea Engine for Nuclear Subs" James Busse

In the silent world of underwater warfare, the slightest noise can bring sudden death to a submarine. The electronic eats of the enemy can detect conventional engines and screw propellers as far as 100 miles away. A computer interprets the sounds and directs a deadly homing torpedo to their source in minutes. How do you go about maneuvering a 3260-ton nuclear submarine without making a sound? Two medical researchers at St. Louis University’s School of Medicine may have found the answer --- a revolutionary undersea propulsion unit dubbed the "sea engine". The interesting phenomenon upon which the sea engine is based was first observed in 1964 by Alfred W. Richardson, a physiologist, and Sujoy K. Guha, a young biomedical engineer from India. The two men were looking for a method of stimulating the flow of blood through the human body. They tried various types of mechanical pumps without success. The pumping action was too irregular. While investigating the effects of magnetic
