The Centre of the Labyrinth

Image
The Centre of the Labyrinth by Jeff Saward The true labyrinth has no false pathways or dead ends to confuse those who follow its winding course. Puzzle mazes in gardens, as children's toys or in theme parks are all multicursal - many paths - to entice and fool the visitor. Instead, it consists of a single meandering pathway which leads inexorably from the entrance to the centre. Throughout the world there exists a symbol - a series of concentric lines, carefully connected. This symbol and its family of derivatives has been traced back over 3500 years; it occurs in different cultures, at different points in time, in places as diverse as Peru, Arizona, Iceland, Scandinavia, Crete, Egypt, India and Sumatra. The lines of contact between these widely spaced bursts of labyrinth consciousness are difficult to trace, its origins remain mysterious. The mediums employed for its use have been many and varied: a simple symbol in a mythology, carved on wood or a rockface, woven i

The Legend of the City of Ys

The Legend of the City of Ys version française Malgven, Queen of the North The Birth of Dahut The city builds against the sea The engagement of Dahut with Ocean The magical mask The submersion of the City Saint Guenole, the missionary of God The City of Ys, conclusion Malgven, Queen of the North Here is the story of the King Gradlon and the City of Ys. The King Gradlon lived in Cornwall. He owned a fleet of many boats that he liked to oppose to his enemies, often in distant countries where the weather was cold. He was an excellent sailor and strategist and often won his battles, plundering the opponent boats and filling his chests with gold and trophies. One day, his sailors, tired from the fights in these cold countries, rebelled, refusing to assault the castle which was promised to them. Many of them died during the winter. They decided to go back to their boats and to head for their land, the Brittany, to find wives and children and live there in peace. The

the writer does write facts, and seems to want to believe it, but seems afraid to... however, i checked, and for your consideration....a great tidal flood did actually happen that day: 11th November(OS), 1099       A tidal flood affected the R. Thames estuary & adjacent areas of north Kent; it is not known whether London was affected, but according to legend, this inundation was responsible for the formation of the Goodwin Sands. The flooding also affected the Dutch coastal areas, so 'tidal' is problematic: I would suspect a wind-driven storm-surge which coincided with a high tide (?spring / exceptional?), and possible excessive autumnal land-water. "Thousands" of deaths reported in areas affected. (I would have thought that if London had been seriously affected, some chronicle of it would have survived?: The 11th century saw a high number of disastrous floods along the English east coast.) http://booty.org..uk/booty.weather/climate/1000_1099.htm Lyon

The Science Delusion

Steve Marshall talks to Rupert Sheldrake about dogma and delusion in contemporary science By Steve Marshall April 2012 Millions of people around the world claim personal experience of unexplained phenomena, which can be as simple as ‘knowing’ who is calling them when the telephone rings. Mainstream science can provide no explanation for this, other than dismissing it as mere delusion. Rupert Sheldrake, after many years of investigating telepathy, the unexplained powers of animals and human precognition, believes that he can. Sheldrake claims that his theory of ‘morphic resonance’ not only explains these widespread phenomena, it also shows how simple organic forms can self-organise into more complex ones, as an addition to Darwin’s process of Natural Selection. According to Sheldrake: “The formation of habits depends on a process called morphic resonance. Similar patterns of activity resonate across space and time with subsequent patterns. This hypothesis applies to all self

Suspended over the Nazca lines at an angle of 60º, my stomach turns and I force myself to keep breathing calmly. As we circle around the crisp figure of the Spider, 45m long, the guide draws attention to the elongated right leg of the creature and explains that this identifies the animal as a species of the arachnid order of Ricinulei, which reproduce by transforming a leg into a protrusible tube that can only be seen with the help of a microscope. As the plane soars up again – seemingly almost vertically – it is not the vertiginous heights that make me feel giddy, but the motion sickness I’m prone to whenever I am manÅ“uvred at fast-chang
