Images reveal a spherical shell of gas that reminds observers of Comet 17P/Holmes, which exploded in 2007. So far the comet is too dim for naked-eye viewing, but at magnitude +8.5 it is bright enough for imaging by backyard telescopes. Visit http://spaceweather.com for photos and more information. THE BARTOO FRAUD

Image
file : UFO2660 T H E B A R T O O F R A U D ----------------------------------- -Mark Harris For some period of time, we've been subjected to the questionable postings of one Walter Bartoo. This has gone endlessly back and forth, trying the patience of the most calm participants, and driving the rest of us to distraction. Enough is enough; I've put in about as much effort as I'm likely to on this crap. I've even gone to the extent of contacting Walter directly through NetMail, and offering my services as a writer to clarify his statements, allegations, and beliefs. This turned out to be unnecessary, as his Solinus can communicate clearly with the written word, and has done so, both in the March/April newsletter posted on this conference, and the Jan/Feb '93 newsletter that Walter sent to me. Most likely, no one here really needs to hear this, but I'll say it anyway. It's all fake. This is one of the worst cases I've ever seen of psuedo-scientific garba

Halloween

Image
Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31, usually by children dressing in costumes and going door-to-door collecting candy. It is celebrated in much of the Western world, though most commonly in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Canada and sometimes in Australia and New Zealand. Irish, Scots and other immigrants brought older versions of the tradition to North America in the 19th century. Most other Western countries have embraced Halloween as a part of American pop culture in the late 20th century. The term "Halloween" derives from Hallowe'en, an old contraction, still retained in Scotland and some parts of Canada, of "All Hallow's Eve," so called as it is the day before All Saints day (observed by some Christians, including Roman Catholics), which used to be called "All Hallows," derived from All Hallowed Souls. In Ireland, the name was Hallow Eve and this name is still used by some older peopl

All Souls Day

All Soul's Day (sometimes called the "Day of the Dead") is always November 2 (November 3rd if the 2nd falls on a Sunday). Often overshadowed by Halloween (October 31) and All Saints Day (November 1), All Souls Day is a solemn feast in the Roman Catholic Church commemorating all of those who have died and now are in Purgatory , being cleansed of their venial sins and atoning before entering fully into Heaven. The importance of the feast was made clear by Pope Benedict XV (1914-22), when he granted all priests the privilege of celebrating three Masses on All Souls Day: one, for the faithful departed; one for the priest's intentions; and one for the intentions of the Holy Father. Only on a handful of other very important feast days are priests allowed to celebrate more than two Masses. While All Souls Day is now paired with All Saints Day, which celebrates all of the faithful who are in Heaven, it originally was celebrated in the Easter season , around Pentecost S
