The Bet

The Bet
“What are these?” Sincere curiosity crossed Tango’s face.
Steve made a half glance before answering, “Cat ears.”
With a quick roll of his eyes Tango asked, “I know that, I mean why did someone send ME cat ears?”
Sighing, Steve snatched up the letter, that had come with the strange gift, and said, “It says they gave you cat ears because I am a cat lover and they want you to wear them for me.”
Tango blushed, “R-really?”
Ignoring the fact that the card only read ‘to Tango’ Steve nodded, “Dave, this fan girl is serious, and she says she’ll kill herself if you don’t wear them…” Stifling a laugh Tango shook his head, though not sure if Steve was joking. “I wasn’t kidding; she’s seriously threatening to kill herself if you don’t wear them.” A smile briefly crossed Steve’s face when the terrified investigator quickly pulled on his cat ears.
However, guilt found its way into Steve’s stomach when Tango, on the verge of tears, grabbed his arm, yelling, “She won’t kill herself now will she?!”
Steve just couldn’t resist pushing Tango a little further, “Actually, it says she wants you to kiss me as well…” Tango, completely wrapped around Steve’s finger, believed his friend’s lies, “but if it’s for the sake of her life we might as well…” Tango tightened his grip on Steve’s arm, in order to pull the older man against him. Nervously, Tango leaned into Steve, forcing their faces almost together. Their lips were so close it hurt when Tango abruptly stopped.
“Steve,” Steve noticed Tango’s eyes fixated on the blank letter in Steve’s hand, “you’re such a liar,” his statement wasn’t angry, just amused, “If you wanted me to dress up like a cat and kiss you, all you had to do was ask.”
Still painfully close to his crush, Steve allowed a smirk onto his features, “Well,” he grabbed Tango’s shirt collar, “if that’s the case, then kiss me Tango.” Unquestionably Tango obeyed and closed the small gap between their faces.
“No way!” Jay whispered to Grant.
Smugly Grant smirked and greedily stuck his hand towards Jason, “Pay up.”
With a defeated groan Jay counted out, “Twenty, thirty, fifty, a hundred dollars.” Immediately Grant turned to Kris, who rolled her eyes and placed a hundred dollar bill into his palm. Smile still shining Grant turned to the cameramen, the soundmen, the case managers, the producers, the researchers, the tech specialists, and all TAPS investigators, who all sighed and paid up.
