  “Right-wing hatchet man” Stanley Kurtz (the phrase used by the Obama campaign to describe him in 2008) charged that in the mid-1990s, Barack Obama was a member of the socialist/ACORN-connected New Party. Kurtz was pilloried by the mainstream press and stuffed Obama’s ties to the far-Left organization down the memory hole, despite the fact that shortly after Obama was elected, conservative bloggers discovered New Party literature clearly indicating Obama’s close ties to the organization. Now Kurtz has found the smoking gun, discovering New Party meeting minutes whereby Obama is described as attending a meeting, requesting an endorsement, joining the New Party, and signing a “Candidate Contract.” The date of the minutes indicate January 11, 1996. Additionally, Kurtz has also discovered a list of members with outstanding dues in which there is a column for the date the member joined showing this same date, January 11, 1996.
