Meditation to find Totem Animal

This will be a quick meditation to find your Totem Animal. You should
try and 'personalize' your visualization, this is the best way for it to
work for you.
Step 1: Relax, ground yourself, center, etc., etc. Always remember to
breathe. Maybe I am not as in depth as you would like here, but the
major steps for meditation are published in MANY books.
Step 2: When you are ready, visualize an open field surrounded by a
great hardwood forest. In the middle of the field is a small grove of
trees made up of Oak, Ash and Hawthorn trees. A Holly or two skirt the
edges. To the right of the grove is a small pond with crystal blue
waters. The whole area is alive with wildlife. CAUTION: don't get lost
looking at the wildlife ... you're on a mission.
Step 3: After you have a solid visualization, the scent, the tastes and
the feel of the scene, walk to the grove. Allow yourself to relax and
become part of the scene. Breathe in nature and the beauty of the area.
Walk to the pond and look into the bottomless waters. Pull your troubles
out of your soul like pulling burrs off your clothes and throw them in
the water. They will sink away and be gone (at least temporarily ).
Step 4: When the last of your troubles and worries have disappeared,
turn around. Your totem animal will be present and you will be drawn to
it. Watch it, listen to it.
You can end the meditation here or continue for a longer, more in depth
meditation. You may not see the animal at first. You may see a doorway,
a gate or even a white stag. Follow the Stag. It will probably lead you
to a doorway. Put up your shields and enter.
Remember, if anything bad happens, all you have to do is WILL to come
to. Shake yourself back into your body and move around. Eat something
earthy like bread. Drink Orange juice or some other fruit drink.
Don't be disappointed if you don't get good visuals at first. Meditation
takes practice.
