What does it mean to be a Furry? It that a sexual thing?

A furry is a fan of media that features animal characters doing “human” things (e.g., walking, talking). Examples of famous anthropomorphic animal characters include Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse. Media that feature such characters can be referred to as “furry” as well (e.g., “Zootopia is a furry movie.”) The furry fandom refers collectively to the furry community—in the same way one would describe a community of science fiction fans as belonging to the “science fiction fandom.” Like other fan communities, furries talk about movies, art, or television online. Many cities around the world host furry conventions, which are major tourist attractions that bring together thousands of furries. If you want more data on who is in the furry fandom, you can check out our survey findings. Research Findings - FurScience Furry conventions, or “fur cons,” are public, organized events where furries gather. Like other fan conventions, panels and events at such conventions include cartoon voice actors,

What's a Furry? - FurScience they love the fact that the furry community embraces them as family and aid in their research efforts. What’s a Furry? The term furry describes a diverse community of fans, artists, writers, gamers, and role players. Most furries create for themselves an  anthropomorphized  animal character ( fursona ) with whom they identify and can function as an avatar within the community. Some furries wear elaborate costumes or paraphernalia such as animal ears or tails, or represent themselves as anthropomorphic animals in online communities such as Second Life. Furry fandom is an inclusive term that describes the community of furries that span online, local, and international settings. The furry fandom is global, with hundreds of local groups existing worldwide and dozens of conventions held annually. A small subset of furries (~20%), called “therians,” believe they are spiritually connected to animals, are less than (or more than) 100% human, are an animal tra

why people hate furries

The two reasons are the quack doctor Phil’s interview with a Furry he chose to exploit and this guy is not a clinical psychologist he is a quack tv role-play doctor. Discovery Channel Taboo also exploited the same individual furry. This was conveniently aired after the CSI episode with a furry to produce maximum ratings. This is the biggest cause for the stereotyping of the Furry community and continued exploitation by media TIME magazine ran a bias inaccurate story about Nazi furries who have been banned from all Furry conventions now this just happens to be four individuals who follow the Nazism theology and create fursuits that are by design made to start confrontations. Like the one that incorporated the Confederate flag who was told ahead of time not to show up at Anthrocon PA or the local police would arrest him and they did arrest him for felony trespass and theft of services. In short, he had no registration or room in the hotel and had no business being there other than to d

The social aspects and appeal of having a wolf theriotype

these are only my own thoughts and observations from a few years in the therian community, so don’t take my ramblings too seriously. I’m not accusing anyone of being fake, y’all are valid regardless of how common or uncommon your theriotype may be. As the title states, one of my main thoughts is the social aspect of being a wolf therian. There are plenty of therian videos online, of pack members hanging out or individuals doing vocals and quads. It looks like fun, it makes you wish you had that sort of life and group. Being a wolf means you get to have a pack, you get to have a territory, you can do quadrobics and howl, though not everyone does these things.  With wolf therians being so common, they are often the first thing you come across when learning about therianthropy. A new therian may see a wolf therian’s content and go “that feels familiar, it feels RIGHT, it feels like my experiences, it clicks. That must be what I am” and stop their questioning there without considering or
