Derrel Sims and its various scams

. A fraudster who has helped to discredit the UFO topic From a couple of years, the name of Derrel Sims became known in Italy, where the enterprising American has been a frequent guest at conventions and conferences and in journals of National Center ufologist ( CUN ), Presented as one of the most eminent ufologists U.S. pioneer of studies on alien abductions, and in particular as regards " plants ", Ie micro-devices that extraterrestrial implant in the bodies of kidnapped themselves, and of which Sims had collected a good collection, which brings back a suitcase by showing the audience that comes to his lectures. While taking into account the diverse and colorful wildlife that now orbit around a few years to the UFO in the USA (and beyond), the character has its undeniable originality and spregiudicatezza. But beyond the folk, what to think of sig. Sims and his sensational claims? What's true in her suitcase and behind her smile? Should be of some concern is the fact that the autonominatosi Alien Hunter has so far received well little credit at ufologist overseas ocean. Nemo Propheta home, You know, but it is never possible to not have ever made space on the pages of the most prestigious American journals ufologist, while it is found with some regularity on tabloid commercial and tabloid that - in the U.S. as in Canada - put the word UFO on the cover? The article that follows is the work of a local journalist who has followed in recent years the evolution of career ufologist by Sims, and it appeared last year on the weekly Houston Press. We thought that can help to restore balance, even for the Italian public, the image of the character. The sky had become green a few months ago, up to Dallas from all over the Gulf. "Many people have seen", was the rapporteur said, "and if you have not seen it because they're watching, and you will never see anything if you do not see." He began to talk about the lights down and melt the asphalt when, on the other side of the room ' Innova Center, A man pulled from the pocket of a coat box color dark blue. It was l ' Chief investigator on abductions, With his little box of treasures. With the lock-jaw and eyes that threw the arrow, Derrel Sims was somehow considered an important person, it seemed almost an agent of the FBI. Above the box had a magnifying glass, to this point members HUFON (the Houston UFO Network ) Did you forward. "This has sent me a woman - said Sims -. He said that he found in his bed after a kidnapping." Raised their hands before their eyes. "These are very small plants nasal found by a young girl, "he continued." These two filamentous stuff? "asked one woman, distort the nose. Yes," said Sims. They were great 0.21 millimeters Precisely the measure that would have waited until he had a nose plant. Derrel Sims had instructed the mother of a girl to keep the nasal mucus The day after each episode of abduction [abduction - NdT]. Sims also found in plants kleenex: "You know what to look for," he explained. Then showed an eye plant "Which was the collective evidence of the kidnapping in 1992, and then a piece of" High-tech ceramics ", Which was found at the place where precipitate a UFO. Samples but there were still more difficult to recover and, one by one, the head investigator put them under the magnifying glass, small pieces blacks who were surgically extracted, he explained, by the foot of Women, the hand of a man and neck another woman. "If the alien abductions are real, there will be evidence - said in a voice severe - and we think we've found." His show was taken in April by the reporters TV Channel 13. One of them, blonde and pretty, had just a few questions. Refused to sit at the conference on death and mutilated cows But thanked Sims out, saying it was all very fascinating and would have thought that even if it had not been there to work. Derrel was gentle and kind with her and it seemed you could not let go, and this did seem even harsher the way in which he rejected the Houston Press by refusing to be photographed. "I do not come, but what happens to these people - he said -. I did not need a critic to evaluate what I'm doing." In that field is called ufologist, Derrel Sims is becoming a star of the first magnitude. Last March he and his surgical implants were the subjects of an entire episode of the series Paranormal Borderline of UPN. In Houston alone, it saw 50,000 viewers and now a producer of Fox is considering to broadcast another program like this. Moreover, Derrel Sims and his work have also been the cover story of the journal UFO Magazine. Sims sells videotapes he produced on the subject and runs a telephone service fee for those who want to hear the latest news on aliens, a page on the Internet where you define self-Alien Hunter ( "Hunter Aliens") and is working on a 'autobiography that it intends to call Confessions of a Hunter Aliens. E 'was an honor to have been a few years ago one of the first journalists to speak of Mr. Sims. She began by saying - just because I knew - that could kill in an instant, without which I could do anything. Then went to describe his battle with intergalactic Mondoz, The head of the aliens, and I spoke on Houston Post But certainly was not my fault if the article is not finished on the front page and are only partly responsible if, relegated on the last page of the newspaper, everything seemed more a humorous piece that a reportage. Certainly, the members of more orthodox HUFON have not liked and when I returned recently to investigate the growing fame dell'Inquirente Cape, many of them were unwilling to talk. One told me later that she had been reproached for having addressed the floor. Another said that I was naive to doubt of alien abductions and that the government had made me the brainwashing. In any case, the end to my director came a warning from the Deputy Derrel Sims: "l ' Senior investigator " Dale C. Musser wrote that the collaboration of members of HUFON failure was not by chance. "Even if I do not know the personal reasons for which Mr. Patterson has with Mr. Sims, it is clear that this is a personal matter, and it seems that several things that have to write about him are defamatory and at risk of a lawsuit. " It was clear that their doors were closed and I did not where else to turn, are finished talking with a small group of leaked by HUFON. All of them believe it is possible that life exists on other planets, and many of them believe that the aliens might well visit the Earth. But everyone agrees on one thing: as you said one of them " Derrel is destroying the credibility of the ". Sims was the reason why they left the HUFON three years ago, and Sims and his reputation is the reason why now returning from their exile and tell their stories on Derrel and pull out the papers on him and make the names of others who are willing to talk about it. The most available of all was Rebecca Schätti , Un'agente real estate that has become a chronicler of the paranormal on the Internet and recently has devoted much of his time to investigate sull'Inquirente Head. "I have doubts about people who call her by name aliens - says Schätti -. That is one of Derrel scam and I denounce the fraud. " "The pioneering work of Derrel Sims on the phenomenon of abductions and aliens and his alleged discovery of artifacts will be perhaps a day at the base of large discoveries in the fields of science and technology." This at least is what he writes on distributing flyers to his lectures. The investigators also acts as a Head " Head of kidnapped "In" support group of abducted by aliens "Organized by HUFON. The members of this group are confidential and you can find them in places and secret ending. Only the kidnapped are allowed and Derrel Sims can only certify that one was abducted. It boasts of being able to understand it alone to face but just to be sure brings out his instruments. According to a press release about its methods, the evaluation begins with an analysis of your Writing . Then continue with something that is called " Profile token "Sims and ultimately assess the shape of your face and observed that there attitude while your story told. You can hold your gaze, which could indicate that the ve been inventing, could still undergo a battery of tests. The test of intelligence is necessary because "certain levels of intelligence are not likely to invent convincing stories", then there is the personality profile, and finally " questionnaire on alleged alien encounters ". A few years ago the test was only a short list of questions like" Have you ever heard unexplained hum? "And" Have you ever seen unexplained flashes of light in your eyes? ". The questionnaire was subsequently developed into a true masterpiece rapimentologia aliena , A long discussion with questions about any excessive growth of the nails, allergic reaction to novocaine and "words or terms that you seem to know but do not have a precise meaning." In the section for men only "addressing questions about your testicles, And "for women" will ask: "Have you ever erotic fantasies about men of small stature or dark-skinned, sexually talented, they do love and be gone?". If you have arrived at this point, Sims puts in his laboratory and there hypnotized. Usually, you will put us to obtain more details on your abduction, but people often sit thinking of having just seen a owl or something with big eyes kind cat. In these cases, Sims uses hypnosis to see beyond the " Memory Screen "Left by aliens. The results are converted, as the chairman of HUFON, Donna Lee That until she was hypnotized had not the slightest idea of being kidnapped. Since the abduction by the aliens is a ' harrowing experience , Sims also recommended to follow a hypnotic therapy. "The hypnotherapist is great." Within the support group for abducted, according to a press release "kidnapped many have stated that for the first time in their life they felt uncomfortable." Musser, An engineer arrived who was suffering from depression, I came to find that it was a " Post-abduction syndrome "And became a most faithful. Now that is investigating the Elder of the group is trying to understand, among other things, because the aliens crashes his plane in the middle of the sky while returning from the funeral of his father. The private investigator took Rebecca to Schätti $ 500 , Has found some problem with tax and a following of small companies with strange names, but no previous criminal of Derrel Sims. The Schätti was disappointed and suggested that the investigator if she wanted the dirty clothes should go and steal from rubbish Sims, Rebecca, but we thought and decided that no, he did not want to get up to that point. There is a woman from Dallas who believes that aliens have the drowned children. Derrel Sims went to investigate and there was also the Schätti. The rib is, writes letters, makes phone calls. Rebecca thinks that it has discouraged the organizer of a conference dall'invitare Sims to speak. "What she wrote in her article? - Asked me - 'This is crazy that hunting played' I do not know why I do so, is not the end of the world, but if it is evil to the people and we need someone do stop. " One evening in 1983, at a time when they were happening "a lot of personal stories, the Schätti was reading a book in bed when a sudden, he reached out next to his car, a 15 miles from home, In a state of hysteria It was much later. Was never able to imagine what had happened and the experience had been removed to the back of his mind until they had a meeting with head of HUFON and heard of " Missing time "." Oh, it happened to me, "she said, and those others said" Oh, you were kidnapped! "And sent home with advice to read a book by the renowned guru of abduction, Budd Hopkins. He did, I was scared and wondered if it was not just been kidnapped by a UFO. On the death of his mother, a few years ago, Rebecca felt that her relationship with the Earth as they had weakened, and for some reason, he turned on all'Inquirente Cape abduction, compiled all the tests and waited, but never accepted Sims to handle his case, not even said anything at all, except that it was terribly busy. When Budd Hopkins was in town, the Schätti put with their backs to the wall and became hypnotise. There were no aliens to peek, but the story reminded about a car and a highway that did not exist at that time . Rebecca realized that there could never trust dell'ipnosi and that would never have known what had happened. "I think it is a good example of how you can be dragged, sucked into this whole affair. I had something, but Derrel can not tell me what, and even Budd Hopkins. Nobody can tell me what happened, but I had left to convince they could do it. " The Hunter says Aliens to descend from a race of warriors dating back to the king of England. Does not say which king, but his family came to the end in the town of Alamogordo , New Mexico, and Derrel Sims grew up in the years of the Cold War, noting the rise in air missiles near the polygon White Sands . Now says that the aliens have persecuted his family one hundred years from now, in any event was not surprised the day that they told him that three UFOs were dipped in beaten and had followed the takeoff of a rocket. Aliens were to look for the first time when she was three years , Sims told the magazine UFO Magazine. I instead told that they had come next to his bed only once, when he was 17 years and was already deeply involved nell'ufologia. What they have done, I can not tell unless it happened to you: you could not understand. Be that as it may, Sims stopped higher studies after only one year and if there was a alien plant on his body, this did not prevent him from join the army. Recounts that he was attending a course as an agent of the military police in 1968 when the CIA would have recruited and sent to work in covert operations that, to remember his friends, had something to do with the breeding of lions and tigers But Sims has always been held on vague and his military resume shows only that the policeman had for three years with no particular distinction. In the end he found himself in Spring , To live in a street called Enchanted Gate (Porta Incantata). In 1979 began the first of its eight businesses in and around Houston, call Parallax Enterprises . The following year he founded the construction company Sims Construction & Supply And this seems to have kept busy until 1987, when it reappeared with the Executive Financial Associates . At this time was also involved in New Age , And I knew enough about "the latest research on the brain" to lead the company Accelerated Learning Systems (Accelerated Learning Systems) whose courses, according to a flier, "respond to the questions' Who am I? ',' Why am I here? ' and 'What do I want to become?'. " The secret is "in Quantum holographic techniques . With this technique Mr. Sims had obtained a black belt karate without ever having taken a lesson: never succeeded in a man. "The same system had become instructor scuba diving - Went on the flyer - and with this special technique could teach you everything we know about scuba diving and karate in just five minutes. Behind a small fee. "The surprising thing about yourself is how you get where you are!" said again: "Your sense of being is unlimited, and it becomes hard to be fatal." Maybe not, not with his superhuman ability to learn. It seems in fact that Sims has never taught what they had learned, taught only to learn Super-Learning , L ' Optimal learning and l ' Experimental learning Massimo . In 1989, according to another of his publicity leaflet, Sims had discovered that "probably used less than 1% of your total brain capacity." He, of course, I used a lot more and for only $ 220 you would have taught to think as he thought. "Come and become a explorer-archaeologist about yourself , Beginning a life of discovery of the wonder of wonders that you have created! " It was more or less in this period that it became part of Houston UFO Network and shortly after moved Derrel Sims, going to live on a street which is called Rising Star (Rising star). Appeared elegant dress to the first meeting but, as a former member of HUFON, Max Washburn , "Had on her face looked like 'I have seen all the colors' and when he said that he had been kidnapped, the thought." Doris The wife of Sims, is almost not never seen it in meetings and even his son, then an adolescent. Sims told his friends that aliens had ruined. Derrel was friendship easily. As a woman, "was a person all encompassing , The kind that is there to give you a hand ". Vince Johnson instead, considered only "a somewhat 'play' from the beginning, when the Sims gave his hand, saying:" Hello, I am a warrior. " The HUFON grew slowly until 150 members And the role of Sims grew along with the group. More or less in the period when he became Head of the kidnapped, he founded another company called Saber Enterprises. The Saber comes as a laboratory and research center But is little more than a post office box and a room at the Sims house, where he works as " ipno therapist-graduate ". "A hypnotic state exists whenever suspend the critical and analytical thought process," he wrote in an old sheet of HUFON. The letters "C.Ht." (certified hypnotherapist) who followed in his name to come from a range of " institutions ipnologici ". The problem, say the therapists ipno-equipped with a real degree, is that these schools usually consist of a single person who tells you" You are graduating "at the end of a short course. However, when Derrel Sims took her degree began to hypnotise members of HUFON and, for $ 395 each, to graduate them as ipno-time therapists. Its supporters say it needs money to follow the aliens, and no one doubts that Sims is serious about extraterrestrials. When he speaks of his abduction "makes it very anger "Recalls another kidnapped the group," with a lot of aggression, as if you could muster an army to fight the ET. " It is said that at Saber Enterprises is working on a paralyzing weapon to neutralize the aliens. He also put out a manifesto sought by the appearance type of alienation, that reads: "Anyone with information on the activities of these individuals please contact DERREL SIMS. "His approach is very, very scientific" testimony of another member HUFON, Dan Marshall . 'He knew what he was really talking about, "said another kidnapped. "His work is of a higher standard than other ufologist. Derrel Wherever he went, there were several others who followed him. When Musser was ever revealed who was kidnapped during his vacation in camp, the head investigator organized a team of volunteers and left for the wild woods of Colorado, with their cameras flattened, waiting for what would have happened. Waited and waited, but did not disappear Musser and nothing happened. In the end, Sims began to feel sick and, as told later, the aliens were working to force him telepathically to go in search of a doctor, so that they could look after his companions. But the Alien Hunter refused to withdraw and that is why the aliens did not come: they were afraid of him ! Svelto brain and language, the Chief investigators solved the mystery of abduction with the speed of lightning. And little by little he revealed his findings. For the full coincidence of him Derrel Sims Wayne , C.HT. of HUFON, the man who stood before them on stage, he was the fulcrum of activities of alien abductions across the Earth. Aliens were trying to take and this would have made even if Sims had not had a highly placed friend, named God ! "With him I have a good agreement," he told Sims. Certainly there was no power greater than a covenant between God and Derrel Sims, and Sims believed that, inevitably, the head of the aliens would have to descend to Earth to negotiate. The plot was similar to that of Dune , The famous science fiction novel of the'60s, in which a young nobleman takes control of the planet Arrakis and demands a visit by the Galaxy. Sims began to repeat the battle cry of the noble " The emperor must come to Arrakis! ". The only small problem with all this history was the issue of evidence. The investigators had no head even a grain. But it was lucky, surprisingly lucky, because the tests were soon provided. In December 1992, the morning after a meeting on the abduction of HUFON, Dale Musser awoke with nose that bled . This was a bad sign. Sims put it in and the details began to flow. Musser was discovered that kidnapped not once, but twice, the first just before the meeting, when an alien who was carrying a gray belt with hanging tools the withdrawal from his bed depositing it in the middle of the road where it was sucked up by a radius dell'astronave board and the mother was ordered to undress completely. He was then led into a series of rooms where he saw some of his colleagues in the HUFON with a dinosaur Some aliens resembling a monks , Similar to cockroaches and more of the appearance of a Bigfoot [the American version of the Yeti - NdT]. What we put on the nose of Musser, as only after he understood, was in fact a bugs, whose recovery after the meeting had caused the bleeding. When Sims put them under hypnosis, colleagues that Musser had seen on board said he had seen their other colleagues and eventually a former member of HUFON that now resided in Jacksonville, Fla., said that she was there that fluttered in UF board, but she was not surprised was because of these travel regularly and, indeed, was always the first to be charged. The Chief said investigators that the last time you had hypnotized had given a message to Mondoz. Consequently when Mondoz had appeared in his bedroom, the woman was quickly shouted " Derrel Sims knows what you are doing! ". They say that at that point the head of Mondoz turned into a worm But calm when shooting did put a bug at all those who have attended the meeting on the abduction in order to discover what would have explained this Derrel Sims. Whatever has Mondoz then proceeds, the abduction was without a doubt trauma for the land, a woman saw Jesus UF on board and another spoke to his dead brother and a third was offered dell'Argentera when he said of being hungry! It was kind of sawing aliens via a finger to the secretary, but they were kind enough to hang. The day after - the story continues - the secretary was sitting at her desk and was stropicciando sleepy eyes when something that fell out in the annals of HUFON would become known as the ' eye plant ". Sims had him examined at the University of Houston and began to proclaim joyfully that contained rare metals . As for "the abduction collective 8 December 1992, "Sims said that was the first time in history that the aliens were taken simultaneously from different locations people. What a magnificent operation dell'Inquirente head; years that wonderful and successful. Sims distributed a brochure boasting its successes had "orchestrated a kidnapping collective", had "snatched two 'eye capsules' in two separate kidnappings" and had " dominated the mental processes of an alien in a program onboard a spaceship. "It was discovered that the aliens" are errors of carelessness "and" seem to have a low intelligence quotient ". This news brought great relief to some land. UFO Universe made the cover story and Sims was baptized " Aliens of the Hunter "On the cover of UFO Library Magazine. Spoke on radio programs and was invited to hold conferences. But in August 1993 when he went to the section of Mutual UFO Network of Corpus Christi, Texas, it seemed that it was forgotten because he was there. "You understand - I told the director of the group, Doris Upchurch - We wanted to learn more about multiple cases of kidnapping and there was interested if he was able to grab a hummingbird or capture a deer with bare hands. But from that moment so that the most dangerous place in the world is between a microphone and Derrel Sims. " If the investigators find head rarely something humorous in that it does, there was a small fraction of the community ufologist who rarely finds something different. For a long time, critics of the Sims were content to talk in low tones among themselves, but in the spring of'93 began to speak aloud. Max Washburn questioned the validity of its corsi accelerati"da un week-end" e pensava che il rapimento collettivo fosse pericoloso: You cannot challenge the devil". Others found the central theme of "aliens versus Derrel Sims" absurd. David Mayo claimed that Investigator Caponon behaved professionally. Vince Johnson said Sims had a lot of greatness. But they were mostly concerned about the kidnapped group - they didn't know what was going on in there, but Rebecca Schatte believed that some of those people probably needed serious help, and neither she nor Johnson thought Sims qualified to provide it. When Schatte explained her reasons and suggested that a professional psychologist be called to oversee the support group, one of the abductees stood up and started shouting at her, "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Things were starting to go wrong but the Chief Investigator sat quietly most of the time and let his abductees defend him, at least until Rod Lewis took one of them bad words and Sims then leaned over the table "with his face. by Charles Manson under the effect of amphetamines "and the dissidents decided to get away with it. Sims never said who examined the ocular implant at the University of Houston and never revealed the final results of the tests. But is this little thing a body implant inserted by an alien? "Oh, good patience - says Lisa Meffert, geneticist at that university - Is that what he goes around saying? No, most likely it's the head of a pin" and says that Sims had come "conspiratorially" saying that what had come out of a guy's eye. Meffert thought Sims was a lawyer who had to sue someone and asked nothing more, but examined the "implant" with a microscope and told him it was probably a piece of plastic from a hair clip. At that time there was already a videotape on the collective kidnapping and a curious enlargement of the photo of a plant, which was published on the cover of a "special report" by HUFON. Sims sought a second opinion, took his ball to the University of Houston Superconductivity Center, and was apparently very pleased with the finding of rare metals, which overturned the pinhead's conclusion. If Sims had said who he was and what he wanted, "we would have taken him for a fool and kicked him out," says Joe Kulik. But when the story broke in the papers, the university's public relations office didn't appreciate the news that the Superconductivity Center would be doing research on alien implants, and Kulik is sure no one at that university will ever want to have anything to do with it again. do with Derrel Sims. That doesn't stop Sims from using the university's good name in his implant lectures, or from insinuating that he's still working with someone in there. But when he says "We have some top-notch science" he is probably thinking of Warren Laboratories and David Pritchard. Sims told UFO Magazine that Warren Laboratories is "a big, very big company" near Houston. George Warren says his is just a small Stafford herbal company. Warren isn't quite sure but he doesn't think he's ever been abducted by aliens. He met Sims a few years ago, at a UFO congress, and has been examining his alien implants ever since. It's something he believes in, he explains, and he does it for free, and hopes to one day get Derrel on the payroll: maybe together they can figure out how UFOs fly and develop a new source of energy for the country.. "I want to help him live better - Warren says - He's a scientist who wants to help humanity, and so am I. "Sims was pretty good at protecting George Warren's name from public attention, but for some reason. instead, Sims's name appeared several times in the press alongside that of Pritchard. Professor of physics at MIT [Massachussets Institute of Technology], he recently published his latest research on an object that would emerge from a penis in UFO Magazine. ufologica brings him the contempt of his colleagues, but Pritchard pulls straight ahead hoping for the day when he will find proof of the aliens and will be able to announce: "You see, I made a discovery as important as Copernicus." About a year ago, the Alien Hunter did got in touch with him, and they've heard four or five times since, enough for the professor to say that Sims "is doing more credibly than most of the others." To catch things that have fallen in bed or on the floor, Pritchard thinks it makes a lot more sense to look for implants where they have been implanted, and Sims has invited him to attend the next removal surgeries. In June 1995, Sims was in California shaking hands at a UFO congress. It took him a while to introduce himself (at the time the Chief Abduction Investigator had also become "Director of Physical Investigations"). "He looked a bit squirted to me," Roger Leir recalls today. "Who do you want to go around with a box full of alien implants and a case of x-rays?" Anyway, they talked to each other and the technician was unimpressed until Derrel Sims put a report from a University of Houston laboratory under his nose: a "credible university" that found rare metals, "that made my ears prick up." Then his eyebrows rose as he examined x-rays of what Sims called "anomalous objects."Sims passed him the x-ray of a foot; Leir happens to be a podiatrist and so Leir volunteered to extract those implants and was appointed Medical Director of Saber Enterprises. Now, wherever the Chief Investigator goes, for $ 30 you can buy the videotape, which starts with him and ends with him, but in the middle there is the resumption of a real surgical operation, and an implant jumps out of where it is supposed. that he entered. The woman's face is not seen in the video, but it was one of the group of kidnappers headed by Derrel and, even though the implant did not cause her pain, she wanted so much to get it off her big toe that she agreed to take the plane and have her foot fleshed. , anesthetized with a needle, while Sims stood next to her, wearing a surgeon's cap, to provide hypno-anesthesia. "Every time you exhale, it's the tension of the day that goes away," Sims whispered. "Let it go. It's okay, let it go. And as it happens, I want you to notice that your foot, the one we're about to operate on, I want that you put it on and put it in an ice bucket. Here! ". Leir made a sign on his finger, with the help of an assistant he tightened a tourniquet around it and began to cut. Then blood came out, they tightened the lace again, widened the cut and began probing with scalpels. "It's right here, isn't it?" Said the second surgeon. "Yes, I think," Leir replied. "We are touching the object now," announced the second. "It looks like hard metal." Leir pulled something out and put it in the gauze. "Is that it?" "No - replied Leir - it's soft fabric." And they pushed and rummaged, cut and squeezed. The woman became more and more agitated and Derrel kept talking, but after a while he broke off the nightmare and asked, "Where is my implant, Doctor?" And Leir said, "We're fishing, Derrel. It's like fishing." More than an hour had passed when Leir said, "I got it!" and this time he had found it. It was a tiny black triangle, and the reason it had been so difficult to find, Leir instantly concluded, was that "a layer of abnormal fibrous tissue had grown around it.". Everyone was very excited. Leir was eager to take him to a laboratory. Many plants were evaporating or dusting in daylight, but Leir thought he knew how to store this. The Chief Investigator took the implant home, wrapped in the patient's blood. He soon announced that the object was glowing green under a black light, but eight months later UFO Magazine reported that "at the time of going to press the artifacts are lying in an unspecified laboratory awaiting official analysis." The exiles from HUFON now call themselves SPUFON, an acronym that means nothing other than their refusal to take anyone seriously. They get together every now and then for a breakfast. Between canapes and coffee, they discuss UFOs and alien abductions. There is something about it, they say, but no one knows what it is and no one will ever know, if people like Derrel Sims keep running away from serious people. "Derrel's implants have never been fully analyzed, and they never will be," Schatte concludes, "because once they prove they're just floor dust, they can't make any more money." But whether or not we've looked at the implants, experts are increasingly interested in Leir and Sims' work. A California ethics committee is investigating the need for implant surgery. In Texas, another ethics expert thinks it's possible for Sims to practice psychology without a license. The Chief Investigator knew nothing of his new fans in April. Along with 70 members of the Houston UFO Network, he sat in the dark, looking at pictures of rotting cow carcasses. "I won't go too far into strange animal deaths," the speaker said, but instead he kept doing it, to the point that the Chief Investigator also stood up for a break. I found him in the hallway and asked him if he was sure he didn't want to talk to me. No chance: if you write a non-complimenting story, he told me, "all you get is to look like a *******". And that was all. He turned his back on me and started talking to anyone who was willing to listen to him again. He talked about the five surgeries scheduled for May, the report he was writing for MIT, the July congress where he would sit next to Budd Hopkins, and the charity he had just founded to fund his research. It was finally interrupted when a middle-aged man with white hair stepped forward, rubbing his thumb. The guy only knew that he had watched the videotape of the surgery and, the next morning, woke up with a pain he couldn't understand. "Look, it comes from here - he said, rubbing it harder." When the squeeze gets more and more red and triangle-shaped. "The Chief Investigator leaned forward and examined the man's thumb. Yes, maybe there was something there. inside, but it would take an x-ray to be sure. He gave him the name of a surgeon who could give it to him. "Just tell him 'Derrel is sending me' and he'll let you in smiling." [taken from UFO - UFO Information Magazine n. -December 1997]
