Thirteen Days of Halloween TFs 2: Day 1 Medusa
Gail walked into her bathroom and sat down the package of hair dye on the counter. She gave herself a final inspection, her red hair complimented her pale skin and freckles well, but she wanted a different look, something… unique for Halloween. She picked up the package and looked at the model, some young person with her hair done up in a bun that made the bright green color almost look like a coiled snake, but what did she expect from emerald boa green hair dye. She chuckled derisively at the dye, feeling just a moment of hesitation at using some hair product she bought at one of those Halloween specialty stores that seem to pop up this time of year.
Setting aside her concerns she reread the directions for a third time and began to apply the dye to her hair. It was a pain staking process to make sure she didn’t get the toxic green dye all over the place, but she was pretty sure she had done a decent job at evenly applying it, and now she just needed to wait for a half hour before washing the remaining dye out.

The wait was tedious, but Gail didn’t want to drip dye anywhere and the smell was rather unpleasant to breath at first. Eventually the overwhelming scent of the dye faded to a slightly musty smell that she was still eager to wash away but not as grossed out by. She looked at the clock and groaned, it was still another ten minutes until her hair could be washed and her scalp felt… weird. Her skin tingled, it felt numb and her hair was stiff and clumped together, the dye having dried quite a bit now. She walked back into the bathroom and look at herself in the mirror. Her hair was matted together into large clumps that were… her mouth fell open and she could only watch as her hair seemed to move on it’s own accord. Slowly at first, barely stirring, then it became less stiff, less numb, she could feel it moving, feel it writhing. She reached up to try and stop it somehow, but a thick strand of hair wrapped around her hand. It felt cold and surprisingly firm, and the weirdest part was, she swore she could feel the warmth of her hand against the cold green mass.

For some reason she thought maybe if she washed the dye out whatever was happening would stop, as if this was just some normal side effect that water would alleviate. Had she been less preoccupied with her hair she might have noticed the odd greenish pallor to her skin, or that the red of her lips seem to be draining out and turning a shade more similar to that on her head. She jumped into the still cold shower and gasped at how frigid the water was, swearing Gail turned the temperature up and tried to rinse off the dye. Her thick hair coiled and writhed it felt wrong in her hands, too thick, too heavy, it almost felt like it was covered in a odd slightly bumpy texture that reminded her of…

Scales?

She jumped out of the shower and didn’t bother to grab a towel as she ran to the mirror. Through slitted green eyes she looked at a vision straight from a horror movie. Her head was covered in what looked like poorly formed snakes, each moving on it’s own, each coiled around one another, each gradually becoming more defined, more detailed. One hissed by her ear and she nearly slipped on the wet linoleum floor in shock. As the scales of the snakes became more defined she could feel a scaly texture on her own skin in some places. She shook her head side to side, watching the emerald boas twist and move, she was frightened to even touch them, but they were a part of her, she could feel them… they softly wrapped around her hand, slid on top of her arm… For a moment the odd sensation of smelling a scent through the tongue of a snake that was once her hair caught her off guard, but she could only laugh at the oddness of it.

Gail had wanted to look different, to look spooky and unique this October, now she just hoped that this was as semi permanent as the package stated. Either way, she was going to look awesome for Halloween.
